Welcome to
PAAWS for Life

PAAWS for Life’s mission is to transform the lives of the Aberdeen area cats & dogs by providing affordable spay and neuter services and veterinary care to low-income families, as well as providing educational opportunities to all pet owners.

Spaying and neutering not only prevent unplanned litters, but also have numerous health and behavioral benefits for pets. It reduces the risk of certain cancers and behavioral problems, ultimately leading to a longer and happier life for your beloved companion.

At PAAWS For Life, we understand that the cost of spaying and neutering can be a barrier for many pet owners. That’s why we provide financial assistance to low-income families, ensuring that every pet has the opportunity to receive this essential procedure. By reducing the number of unwanted litters, we contribute to a decrease in overcrowded shelters and homeless animals.

Together, we can make a difference—one pet at a time.

PAAWS for Life - Benefits of Spay/Neuter

At PAAWS for Life, we are dedicated to promoting the spaying and neutering of cats as a critical component of responsible pet ownership and community health. Across the United States, millions of cats face uncertain futures due to overpopulation. The statistics highlight a pressing need for widespread spay/neuter programs to reduce the number of homeless and unwanted cats.

Every year, approximately 3.2 million cats enter animal shelters in the U.S., and tragically, nearly 860,000 of them are euthanized. Many of these cats are healthy, adoptable animals that simply don’t have enough homes. Spaying and neutering not only prevent unwanted litters but also significantly reduce the number of cats that end up in shelters. Studies have shown that communities with robust spay/neuter programs see a dramatic decrease in shelter intake and euthanasia rates.

Spaying and neutering also offer numerous health and behavioral benefits for cats. For females, spaying eliminates the risk of ovarian and uterine cancers and significantly reduces the risk of mammary tumors. Neutering males helps prevent testicular cancer and can reduce the occurrence of undesirable behaviors such as spraying and aggression. These procedures contribute to longer, healthier lives for our feline friends, while also alleviating the burden on shelters and rescue organizations.

At PAAWS for Life, we believe that education and accessibility are key to increasing spay/neuter rates. By providing low-cost or free spay/neuter services, along with community outreach and education programs, we can empower pet owners to make informed decisions for their cats’ well-being. Together, we can work towards a future where every cat has a loving home and the opportunity to thrive. Join us in our mission to promote the health and happiness of cats through spaying and neutering.
